Apple has finally officially unveiled its iPad Mini and it is, indeed, extremely light. The iPad Mini sports a 7.9-inch screen and it feels as airy as the iPhone 5, though maybe a tad wide for some jacket pockets.  Read Original Content

It may be hard to believe there are other phones on the market beyond the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy, but there are. In fact, the NPD Group says sub $150 smartphones will account for a 29 percent share of the smartphone market by 2016 – spiking to 60 percent for the APAC region.  Read Original Content

According to Strategy Analytics, for the first time in the third quarter, the number of use of smartphones globally has exceeded one billion and is presumed to double by 2015 ever since Apple’s latest iPhone stimulated the demand.  Read Original Content

ABI Research has predicted amount spent using NFC mobile payment systems will break the $100 billion mark in 2016. Payments made using the touchless technology payment tech will total just $4 billion in 2012 according to the firm, but will balloon to $191 billion annually in 2017.  Read Original Content

On Google's Q3 2012 earnings call, CEO Larry Page said the company had an $8 billion mobile revenue run rate, and CFO Patrick Pichette added, "Ads continue to be the bulk of [the $8 billion], the vast majority of it."  Read Original Content

Research firm Strategy Analytics has claimed the industry surpassed the billion mark in Q3 of 2012 (partly due to new releases such as the iPhone 5 from Apple), a figure up from the 959 million smartphones recorded in Q2, and the 708 million of Q3 2011. Read Original Content

According to a study by AYTM in conjunction with Mashable, in September, 73 percent of U.S. consumers who planned to buy a smartphone in the next six months already owned a smartphone. Only 27 percent of prospective smartphone buyers were new to the market.  Read Original Content
